2012 Winter/Spring GRAPE Camps

Please introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself. We have a number of people who are doing GRAPE Camp asynchronously and you can communicate with them this way. You can also ask questions here.

Hi, Deborah:

You should have just received an email assigning you to the review, Guide to Business Research. That means you have your Workspace. Just click on that and you can copy and paste your review into MERLOT. I get notified when it is done, so you don't have to let me know. Do let me know, though, if you have any questions.

Deborah, that's my fault...mea culpa. I didn't realize that the Asynchronous Module was still directing you to the stage site. We have changed that and you can now upload it to the regular MERLOT site.

My apologies for the confusion.

Hi everyone. My name is Amy Grincewicz and I am the Instructional Designer for the College of Mount St. Joseph as well as a doctorate student in Instructional Design and Technology at the University of Cincinnati.

My background is very broad from biology and math to instructional design and special education.

Hi, Amy: We're happy to have you as part of GRAPE Camp. It sounds as if you have a lot of diverse interests. When you complete GRAPE Camp, you'll be able to designate in which discipline you want to start reviewing.

Hello, I am a teacher trainer and EFL instructor in the ministry of education , Egypt. I have joined spring GRAPECamps. The sessions are very interesting and fruitful. It is a good chance not only to exchange experience but to gain new respectives as well

Welcome, April 2012 GRAPE Campers:

Someone just asked me about the Submitter/Author relationship. Since MERLOT is an open resource, anyone who is a member of MERLOT can contribute a material. You can always contribute a material even though you didn't create it yourself. I, for one, have submitted a number of materials, but authored very few. If I'm able to find something that is publicly available and can be used in teaching and learning, I can add it to MERLOT. In fact, I have a long list of materials to be added in my bookmarks.

When a material is submitted to MERLOT, the Author of the material is notified, and of course has the option of asking that it not be submitted. In that case, we will delete the material. We normally find that most people are flattered that their materials are added to MERLOT (and recognized by someone other than the students in class).

Hello

My name is Barbara Kuhn and faculty at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington. I currently develop curriculum and teach 100% online. Disiplines include international business, marketing, and sustainability. Currently I am teaching 200 students who are located in Wuxi, China P.R.C. and 300 students in Guanzchou, China P.R.C. The students study for 3 years and graduate from my college with Associate Degrees. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Peer Review process and interacting with Merlot and Merlot Voices in the future. Thank you for describing the submitter/author relationship.

Hi Everyone! My name is Kristen Rebmann and I am an assistant professor at San Jose State University. I teach in an all-online graduate program in library & information science. I started GRAPE CAMP before and was very disappointed when I didn't finish. I'm back again to make it through successfully!
