Hello! I'm Nikki Kaltenbach Hollis. I teach French at Purdue North Central and at Indiana Unviersity Northwest. I became interested in technology in foreign language teaching when I taught a two-way video course for Ivy Tech in Valparaiso last spring. I have been working on a shell for an online French 101 course. My discipline, of course, is World Languages.
I enjoyed the archived version of the session and look forward to next week's meeting. I'll still be joining after the fact, though, as I have office hours during most of the session, and next week is the last week of classes - which usually brings the parade of students with last-minute questions!
Hi, Nikki:
Welcome. I know that Laura Franklin, Editor of World Languages Editorial Board, will be glad to hear you are attending GRAPE Camp. She also speaks French!
Hi Nikki, I am Florence Lojacono, a French teacher in Spain, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (I teach also French and Italian on line at the Empire State College, NY). I I would like to know if, in your language class, the major use of ICT is in class, before the class, after the class ?
Hi, Cathy,
I am Anna Hall and I teach Sociology at the Delgado Community College (have been at DCC for 15 years).
Sorry for joining in late- Final papers and exams... :).
I have reviewed the Policies for peer Review that you sent our way- and want to thank you for the clarity of the document. Whenever any type of ranking system is used or any "assessment criteria" are stipulated, I am always curious as to the rationale and logic behind them. The document lays out not only the steps and details for the peer Review process but also such logic behind the review criteria. Thank you for that. (I've always been puzzled about the star rankings in Merlot- now I know :) ).
Anna
Hi, Anna:
I think it is important to know the background of the ratings, particularly since you're going to be rating materials. Glad to receive the feedback.

I'll be sending out this week the Vineyard, which is our "internal" newsletters. I always like to include those in GRAPE Camp, too. You'll see that I have put out a request for people to form a Taskforce in Sociology. I hope you'll consider participating.
Hi again, Cathy,
just wanted to let you know that In the Tutorial/ Part 1 (Introduction), on the "Peer Review Report" slide (early in the presentation), there is a carried-over/ laid- over line from the previous slide (about the "member being active"....). Perhaps just a small technical detail that could be easily corrected? :) No big deal, of course!
Thanks. Anna
Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check that out to see if I can change it.
Cathy, I'm all for TaskForces- especially the ones with clear and noble goals (like promoting my discipline) :).
Anna
Hello. My name is Philip Gould. I am a researcher in the Center for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Memphis. In addition, I hold adjunct teaching appointments in the graduate faculty of the Department of Leadership and in the Department of History. In addition to my Ed.D. in Leadership (with emphasis in Higher and Adult Education); I have a J.D. from Emory University.

I am looking forward to our grape camp sessions. Sorry I missed the first--I was ill.
Hi, Philip:
Welcome to GRAPE Camp. I'm sure you will be able to catch up. With your diversity of disciplines, you might want to be thinking about which Editorial Board you believe would be best for you.
See you on Thursday!
Hi everyone

I am Barbara Nicolls, a language tutor from the UK teaching English and Italian as Foreign Languages and also English for Academic Purposes. I am passionate about using technology to enhance the learning experience of my students as I have myself been at the receiving end of 3 excellent courses delivered by the Open University. Currently, I am taking the blended approach which is proving to be popular with students due to the 24/7 nature of this mode of delivery. I sauntered into JOLT and then MERLOT as I was writing one of my assignments. The resources are so authentic and practical!
I am in a similar situation as Nikki but I hope to join you all later.

Barbara
We welcome you, Barbara. I know that Laura Franklin, the Editor of World Languages, will really appreciate having you as a Peer Reviewer. Of course, you might also be interested in our English Editorial Board. You can look at the materials in both and decide where you are most comfortable.
