1. SU System signs MOU with the CSU MERLOT

The Southern University System recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with California State University (CSU) and the Multimedia Education Resources for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) organization for the design and deployment of Southern University’s Affordable Learning Solutions (AL$) Initiative.

2. SUS faculty, students get access to free digital textbooks and Open Education Resources

The Southern University System (SUS) announces the recent launch of the Southern University Open Online Library for Education (SUOL) http://www.suol4ed.org/, the first of several diverse components of Southern University’s Affordable Learning Solutions (AL$) initiative, created in partnership with California State University (CSU) and the Multimedia Education Resources for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT).

3. SUS Declares the Week of Thanksgiving - Open Education Week

Faculty played an institutional leadership role in the planning and organizing a SU System week dedicated to Open Education Resources (OER) and Open Textbook. The Open Education Week held during the week of November 16-22 featured a video channel produced by faculty and librarians to raise awareness, online panel discussions hosted by System SGA Presidents, SU Faculty and SUBR Librarians and training webinars facilitated by national experts in the area of OER.

4. SUS Faculty and Librarians produce a OER Advocacy Video Channel

This channel contains Advocacy Videos contributed by librarians, faculty and students of the Southern University System (SUS)  of Louisiana in support of the Open Textbook Week organized by the Southern University Open Library (SUOL). The week of November 16, 2016 through November 22, 2016 was selected by the SUOL Leadership as  Free/Open Textbook week 2016.
