The multidisciplinary Executive Committee of Open Educational Resources for Cancer (OERC) is pleased to welcome all members of the MERLOT Cancer Community to OERC VOICES, the chat room function for OERC. This communications center is intended to provide for free and open exchange of ideas and information relating to cancer education, both for health care professionals as well as patients and their families. OERC VOICES provides an opportunity for medical and nursing educators to share information on access to quality educational materials, curriculum planning, teaching case presentations, videos and other enduring educational modules. A specific request for help with planning a lecture on a given subject may be presented to the community for response, advice and discussion. All members of the community are encourage to contribute educational materials to the OERC.MERLOT.ORG website to be shared by colleagues across the globe for educational purposes. OERC.VOICES has just begun and we thus encourage active participation by all users and contributors, with vigorous and enthusiastic interchange of ideas and educational strategies. Educators should use OERC VOICES to informally seek consultation from their colleagues on planning of oncology courses and educational programs.
