Ph.D. student working on dissertation. Interested in teaching how to teach and how to learn.
Interested in harnessing the test effect. It has been well established that taking a test produces more learning than just studying (Agarwal, Karpicke, Kang, Roediger, and McDermott, 2007). I would like to investigate whether more is learned by teaching than by studying and testing. The implied requirements for learning-through-teaching are open access to notes, textbooks, and other media including the internet, as well as access to fellow students and course instructor. The idea is to get away from the grade school model of teaching and learning and get toward the incorporation of learning for adults in much the same way learning happens on the job.
