Describe your role in education
My role as a credential-student is to learn how to be an effective, supportive, and inspirational teacher. I believe the role of a teacher is to provide guidance, promote critical thinking, and encourage application of learned skills and knowledge.

Hey Thuy, it was great to go through the NASA institute with you. Your presentation was awesome by the way; really cool simulations!

Hi Thuy,
It was a great institute. I agree that it was great getting a chance to bond and get to know each other. It was great seeing your presentation. Thank you for sharing all the great info. I will probably steal some material from your website. I hope that we can share our experiences from the classroom at future Noyce events. Stay in touch. Let me know if you need some help when student teaching. So far I have been student teaching for a year so I may be of some help.

Sincerely,
Mr. Miguel Moreno

Thanks Thuy. I will keep you posted. Do you remember all the fun activities we did in class. I have such a bad memory. I want to implement some of the ice breakers we had. What was your favorite? Let me know.

Hi Thuy,

I will check out those ice breakers activities. Thanks for staying in touch. I just returned from another summer institute and enjoyed it very much. The program is called Forestry Institute for Teachers (FIT) http://www.forestryinstitute.org/. You get to meet lots of great people there as well. In fact, you get to run into people who attend other summer programs like I did with Samantha Espolt. I received the project learning tree and other curriculum materials. They have this program every summer. They've been doing this for almost twenty years and they run the program perfectly. I hope you can go to this. They also have a stipend available and units from UC Davis (u went there didn't you?). Well I hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Mr. Miguel Moreno

Hi Thuy,

Yes, the book is mandatory in his class. He uses it almost every class meeting the first half of the semester. You'll have to read the chapters ahead of time before class to do the chapter quizzes at the very beginning of class. I still have mine, so if you want I can sell it to you for minimal price. And I have all his quizzes and assignments. Let me know.....=))

Hi Thuy,
Sorry for the late response. I am student teaching two classes of Life Science this fall. Let me know if you have anymore questions of which I will respond in time this time. Simply, send me an email at sac27863@saclink.csus.edu as I check this email often. Also, I wanted to know, do you have an interactive companion website that goes with your book? This interactive website might be able to help in order to show students clips of the materials you will be presenting for the day. I do this often and we have a discussion about it. I hope this helps. Keep your head up and work hard on the lesson plans.
Sincerely,
Miguel
