Describe your role in education: I am currently a senior of Binghamton University, majoring in Linguistics. Learning linguistics at BU has provided me with an all-round comprehension of the characteristics of a language in phonetics, phonology, semantic, etc., which immensely expands my knowledge. Besides my studies, I participated in practical teachings and accumulated several teaching experiences. For example, I did a three-month internship as the English assistant in a language training school in Beijing. Due to the traditional exam-oriented education, a great number of students have lower verbal ability and have lost an interest in learning English. Therefore, instead of using rote memorization to instill language knowledge in students, I applied the game learning method to mobilize each students’ enthusiasm. Amazingly, this seemed to spark a passion for English learning in many of the students.In the future, I want to become an English teacher to teach kids who have an interest in English.
