HBCU SUMMIT INNOVATE 2017: NEW ORLEANS, APRIL 5-7, 2017

The Southern University System (SUS), the California State University (CSU), the Multimedia Educational Resources for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) and the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) will share practices, strategies, and resources for developing quality online programs and reducing the costs of instructional materials for students, making higher education more affordable for more students in Historically Black Universities (HBCUs) in the United States and Higher Education Institutions in Africa (HEIA). Leaders from the organizations will facilitate a series of sessions and workshops that will be embedded in the annual INNOVATE conference cosponsored by OLC and MERLOT in New Orleans, April 5-7, 2017. HBCU and HEIA participants will develop plans that they will be able to deploy within their own institutions, customized to the needs and goals of their own communities. The HBCU and HEIA participants will also recommend strategies for OLC and MERLOT to advance and sustain support for HBCUs and HEIAs in their implementation of affordable learning solutions and online education. The Summit was officially announced on November 18, 2016, during the OLC ACCELERATE Conference held in Orlando Florida. The summit is intended to the 105 HBCUs in the United State and Higher Education partners in Africa.
