Have you used a learning material from MERLOT in your teaching?
Describe your role in education
Currently I serve as the Associate Vice-President for Academic Technology and Director for Center for Faculty Development at San Jose State University. I am very enthused about this combination of roles that allows me to bring my knowledge from my Ph.D. in Higher, Adult and Continuing Education, my 20 year of experience as a Community College Educator and Nursing Professor, 2 years experience as an Academic Senate Chair and 7 years of experience as an AVP to solve organizational and planning challenges supported by faculty development team to solve the issues of preparing a professoriate to meet the needs of Net Gen learners irregardless of their learning styles and abilities. I find the combination of being able to support faculty through professional development, as well as by designing with them formal and informal learning spaces for student success, to be a powerful new paradigm to moves the campus forward in creating learning teams for the 21st century.
I signed up here just because of your invite. I always INTEND to get more involved in MERLOT; maybe now I really will get up to date.
It was great to talk with you and with Mary Fran at POD. You and your colleagues are really going at full speed, aren't you? I want to hear more about the accessibility initiative (and the mandate that underlies it).
As for organizational placement of teaching and instructional technology centers, that's a topic that never fails to pique my interest. Maybe we can get a conversation going here.
Mary Jo - Thank you! It was great seeing you too! We are just about finished analyzing the Web 2.0 research data from the 7 sites and planning to resurvey to look for changes. In phase 2 we will survey healthcare providers and consumer to do a comparison. Jeanne
Hi Mary Jo, Thank you for your message! I just got back from a great conference in D.C. http://www.educatingworldcitizens.org. Also, just read an email announcement with the new sessions at the CFD - they look great! I look forward to working with you again too.
