Describe your role in education
I have taught Pre-K for 20 years, and teach Community College students courses in early childhood development, curriculum & instruction. I mentor students who work in childcare as well as students who want to go to graduate school in various teaching sub-specialties. The picture is of me sandwiched between my daughters a few years ago in front of the International Spy Museum.

"The Power of Documentation"

I found this site from Paradise Valley Community College called the above. A little difficult to understand how to navigate initially, but go to the bottom of the page for the links to different parts of the exhibit. This does explain and show what documentation is, how it works, what it's for, and it has excellent examples. I would like to use it in my classes to better explain and describe documentation.

Online teaching

I have done Hybrids for a couple of years, and am now diving into totally online teaching. I am working on a 12 week course on Infant and Toddler Programs for Nova. Has anyone else taught this, or anything like it, online? Any suggestions? Gail

Videos

Autism Speaks is a site by the American Academy of Pediatrics for which you can register to view video clips comparing typically developing children with children on the autistic spectrum. An excellent teaching tool for students. It allows them to see the subtle differences in very young children for themselves.

From Babbling to Books

This webcast from Reading Rockets is a terrific overview of early literacy, including the crucial relationship between oral language and later reading achievement. It includes Todd Risley, the co-author of Meaningful Differences in the Everyday Lives of Young American Children. http://www.readingrockets.org/webcasts/1002#videotape
